HURD OCNS - December 10, 2001 - Shirley L. Hurd, 72, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2001, in the Pawhuska (Oklahoma) Hospital. Mr. Hurd was born November 16, 1929, in Wynona, Oklahoma, the son of John and Minnie Lee (Allen) Hurd . In November, 1963, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Shirley married Mary Alice Raney, who preceded him in death February 25, 1997. Over the years Shirley worked in various cafes and at the Venture Carpet Mill in Pawhuska (daily walking approximately two miles {one way} from his residence on Osage Street to the Carpet Mill on Twentieth Street). Survivors include: one daughter, Etta Marie Cunningham of California; two sisters, Mary Lee Justis of Maize, Kansas; Bette Smith and husband, Thomas of Derby, Kansas; one brother, A.J. Hurd of Wagoner, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In addition to his wife, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, David DeWayne Hurd; a sister, Gladys Miller and a brother, Russell Hurd. Services will be held Wednesday, December 12, at 2:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Mundy officiating. Interment will follow in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home Pawhuska, is in charge of arrangements.
