She was born Sept. 28, 1935, to Ernest and Beulah Briggs in Pittsburg, KS. She was married to Duwayne E. White on Sept. 29, 1951. Shirley worked at Bonham High School, and as Fannin County Deputy District Clerk. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Wilson N. Jones Hospital, was an active member of the North Park Baptist Church Golden Agers, and the Super Seniors at Grace United Methodist Church, all in Sherman. She is survived by her husband of the home; three children, Greg and Debbie of Wichita Falls, TX; Debbie Atnip and Allen of Cypress, TX and Robin Miller and Tom of Sherman, TX; she also has 11 grandchildren, Doug, Jay, Brad and Jeff White; Scott, Christie and Kevin Atnip; Ashley and Wendy Miller; Nathan DeFee and Amanda Wood; two sisters, Gwida Johnson and Betty Green and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lloyd and Connie White of Hominy. The family received friends at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, TX. Services were at Grace United Methodist Church in Sherman at 10 a.m. on Fri., Aug. 24 with the Rev. Bob Bush, Mark Thurmon and Jim Goodwin presiding. Honoring her as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Interment was at Cedarlawn in Sherman, TX. The family request that memorials be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Haven of Rest at 1500 N. Center in Bonham, TX 75418.
