She was born June 22, 1956 to Bill Lindy and Delores (Boulanger) Mathes, Sr., in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Pawhuska High School. July 24, 1975, in Pawhuska, she married John Hayden Ray who survives at the home in Broken Arrow. Sandra was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Survivors in addition to her husband, John, are: a son and daughter-in-law, John Louis Ray and Amanda, and a daughter and son-in-law, Summer Nakellie Merrick and Tommy, all of Inola, Oklahoma; her mother, Delores "Dee" Mathes of Pawhuska; a sister, Kellie Mathes Hooper of Midwest City, Oklahoma; a brother, Bill Lindy Mathes, Jr., of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two aunts, Kathryn Adkisson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Thelma Cannon Tucker of Pawhuska; four grandchildren, Tyler Hayden Merrick, Bre'an Jolynn Merrick, Cayla Rechelle Ray and Kaitlynn Cheyenne Ray and a host of other family and friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Randy Louis Mathes, and her grandparents, Thomas S. and Elpha Ridge Mathes and Grover and Fannie Boulanger. Both grandfathers were Original Osage Allottees. Rosary will be recited Friday, February 2, at 7:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, 219 East 6th Street, Pawhuska. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
