Murtie Alexander

Murtie was born on January 17, 1911 in Elgin, KS to Charles and 
Flossie (Wells) Bohannan.  She went to be with the Lord on Fri., Oct. 
19, 2001 in Caldwell, KS at the age of 90.  Murtie was the oldest of 
four children, Ralph, Frank and Jerry Bohannan.

She graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, KS and was also the 
Valedictorian of her class.

After answering a call to the Lord, she became an Ordained Minister 
in 1931.  Murtie pastured in Hominy at the House of Prayer.  She 
continued her ministry until her death.  Murtie also worked as a 
seamstress in the Tent Factory in Pawhuska for 30 years.

Murtie married George Ecker on March 14, 1929 and to this union two 
daughters were born, Bernadine (Utterback) Kramner of Caldwell, KS 
and Geraldine Grimes of Goddard, KS.  Murtie also raised a foster son 
Clifford Moore of Hominy.

After George's death on June 2, 1948, she married Virgil Alexander on 
Sept. 3, 1949.  Together they raised two granddaughters, Suzi 
(Mayhew) Smith of Pawhuska and Maggie (Fish) Gibson of Wynona.  In 
1972 Murtie and Virgil Alexander moved to Hominy to retire.  On 
January 5, 1999 she went to Beverly Health and Rehab Center in 
Caldwell, KS where she lived until her death.

Murtie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two 
husbands and her foster son.

Survivor's include two daughters, Bernadine (Utterback) Kranmer and 
her husband Dale of Caldwell, KS; Geraldine Grimes of Goddard, KS, 
granddaughters Suzi (Mayhew) Smith of Pawhuska; Maggie (Fish) Gibson 
of Wynona.  Murtie was also blessed with a host of nine 
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great 
grandchildren; and also friends at the Beverly Health and Rehab 
Center of Caldwell, KS.
