All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== The Hominy News - Progress Vol. 34, No. 10 March 6, 2002 Page 5 Robert Lewis Sattre Robert Lewis "Bob" Sattre, longtime Newkirk resident, passed away Friday afternoon, March 1, 2002 in Fairfax. He was 58. Robert Lewis Sattre was born Jan. 29, 1944 in Simpson, MN, the son of Leo Juel and Maxine Yvonne Goodwin Sattre. His early years were spent in Minnesota. When he was 15 years of age, he moved to Oklahoma with his family after the death of his father. He attended Ponca City High School through his sophomore year. He then took on the responsibility of helping raise his two sisters and four brothers. At the age of 16 he started working in the Feed Mill of the Farmer's Co-op in Kildare. Bob and Lila Mae Wood were married Aug. 23, 1969 in Tonkawa. They established their first home in Newkirk where they lived their entire married life with the exception of five years they lived in Kildare. Bob worked his way up in the Co-op to the position of manager. He left Farmer's Co-op in 1996 after 35 years of service. That same year he made his family proud by getting his GED for high school. He then purchased and operated the feed store in Fairfax, and later a feed store in Hominy. As a youth, Bob was baptized into the Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and was an avid Ag Booster. He was a member of the Newkirk Chamber of Commerce and served as a board member for three years. He was also a member of the Fairfax Chamber. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, and his favorite hobbies included fishing, gardening and playing bingo. He is survived by his wife, Lila; one son, Jeff Sattre of the home; two daughters, Kim Gregg of Ponca City and Jennifer Makhanov of Billings, MT; two sisters, Mattie Jean Poor of Ponca City, Sharon Sattre of Kildare; four brothers Tom Sattre, Kurt Sattre, Chris Sattre, all of Ponca City, and Rick Sattre of Piedmont; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral was held on Tues. March 5 at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 125 Vinnedge St., Blackwell, with the Rev. mark Bersche, Vicar of St. John's Lutheran Church in Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Prairieview Cemetery south of Tonkawa under the direction of Miller-Stahl Funeral Service. Contributions may be made to the Bob Sattre Memorial through Eastman National Bank, Box 468, Newkirk 74647. Those serving as casket bearers will be Jay Albers, Leroy Albers, Ray Langdale, Michael Robinson, Joe Barnard, Sam Anderson, Jeryl Belvill and Kenny Miller.
