She was the daughter of Omer and Betty Dorrough. Joy was raised and attended school in Booneville, graduating from Booneville High School in 1952. Joy was married to Loron E. Silver on March 24, 1952 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. The couple resided in Broken Arrow area most of their married life, raising four children: Joseph, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Joanna. Although Joy worked for a few years as a unit clerk at St. Johns Medical Center, she spent most of her time raising her family and working with her husband, Loron, building homes. Loron would build the houses and Joy would use her talents as an interior designer to transform them into homes. They worked together building many homes throughout the Broken Arrow and Tulsa area. The couple moved to Claremore in 1996. Joy was a member of the Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa. She passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2001 at her home in Clremore at the age of sixty-seven years, two months and five days. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Joseph and Jonathan; two brothers, Ted and Dee Dorrough; and two sisters, Sue Dorrough and Clydene Dorrough. Joy is survived by her husband, Loron E. Silvers of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Sesso of Wagoner, Oklahoma ad Joanna Nix of Claremore, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Dorrough and Joe Dorrough, and four sisters, Polly Dorrough, Reba Andrews, Ruth Million and Dorothy Black. Graveside funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2001 at the Blackburn Cemetery with Rev. James Gaylor officiating.
