Tyner was born on April 14, 1917 in Ochelata, Ok., to Mr. Leonard Tyner and Mrs. Jessie Hook Tyner. He passed away Feb. 5, 2002 in Cleveland, Ok. He was 84 years old. Melvin was raised in Ochelata, where he attended Ochelata schools. He married Edith Moler in1956; they were married for 31 years until she passed. He worked in the oilfield industry for 42 years under different companies such as Curt Brown and Hughs Oil Company. He then married Lela Pappan on Dec. 21, 1987 until she passed. Melvin liked to work in his yard and keep it looking healthy and nice. He enjoyed keeping up on the Chicago Cubs and he took interest in the Rodeo circuit. Melvin is survived by his sister LaVonne Kleir of Claremore; a sister-in-law Emma Lou Delaney of Stephens, Ark.; and brother-in-law Weldon Delaney of Pawhuska; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Services for Mr. Tyner were held Thurs., Feb. 7, 2002 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating services was Rev.
