The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TOM DiVALL OCNS - September 30, 2002 - Tom DiVall, 53, lifelong resident of Shidler, Oklahoma, died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 4, 2002 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Reverend Dr. Rick Hermansen, associate pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church officiating. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel, Ponca City. Tom was born June 29, 1949 in Ponca City, the son of Robert Joe and Roberta Alyce Filson DiVall. He grew up in Shidler, Oklahoma where he graduated from Shidler High School prior to attending Northern Oklahoma College at Tonkawa, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, Oklahoma. At an early age, Tom began a career in the oil industry working at his father's service station in Shidler, where he drove a bulk petroleum truck and delivered propane. He then went to work at Phillips Petroleum Company in the Shidler field. After the Phillips closing, he worked for a while at Wal-Mart and Lowe's. At the time of his death, he was working on a pulling unit for Kerr Oil Well Service. Tom was an avid pool player and enjoyed spending time with his children. He enjoyed taking them to Branson and visiting Silver Dollar City. He enjoyed fishing and shooting cans with his son and also enjoyed gardening, especially raising tomatoes and searching for wild asparagus. Survivors include a son, Joseph DiVall of Oklahoma City and a daughter, Cody Wilson of Green Forest, Arkansas; two brothers, Mike DiVall of Watauga, Texas and Allen DiVall of Stillwater; and one grandchild. His parents and one grandchild preceded him in death. Following the service, friends and family are invited to the First Christian Church of Shidler for fellowship and refreshments.
