He entered into rest on August 8, 2001. He was 51 years old. In his spare time, Tommy enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was raised in Hominy, where he attended school, and raised his family. Tommy is survived by his Mother, Eva Mae Stokes of Hominy, two sons, Thomas Stokes of Topeka, KS, and Michael Stokes of Pawhuska; two daughters, Jennifer and husband William Neal of Pawhuska, Tammy and husband Ronnie Matthews of Norman; three sisters, Janette Standridge of Blackwell, Rosetta Robinson of Cleveland, Mary and husband David Wood of Hominy; 3 brothers, John Wesley Jr. and wife Ruby Stokes of Cleveland, Amos and Mary Stokes of Hominy, Frank Stokes of Hominy, three grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives. Tommy was preceded in death by his Father John Wesley Stokes Sr., his wife Marilyn Stokes, one aunt, Murtle Rushing, and one uncle Ben Grier and one grandson Ronald Ray Matthews. Services for Tommy Stokes were 2 p.m. Tues., Aug. 14, 2001 at the Powell Funeral Home, Reverend Terry Jarrard officiated services. Serving as casket escorts were Ricky Robinson, James Robinson, Heath Stokes, John Stokes, Leon Stokes, Jerry Stokes, William Neal and Waylon Stokes. Services were under the direction of Powell Funeral Home.
