All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Webb, George Thomas George Thomas Webb, 77, joined his Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 4, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 19, 1925, in Dexter, KS to George Drake and Birdie Pearl (Moberly) Webb. At the age of three years old, the family moved to Lost Springs, KS, where he attended school until the age of 10, when the family then moved to Foraker, OK on an oil lease, where George started 6th grade. He attended school at Foraker, until graduation in May 1943. He met the love of his life, Norma Jean Sullivan and married her in Pawhuska, OK on December 31, 1950. To this union was born four children. George joined the Naval Air Corps after graduation and served overseas twice in the South Pacific. Having served aboard the USS Bunker Hill, when it was hit in May 1945, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Victory Medal, Air Medal, Letter of Commendation, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon, and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged June 3, 1946. Shortly thereafter, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company and later worked for The Standland Oil and Gas Company. He attended college, at the University of Southern Alabama, while working for The Standland, he then returned to Oklahoma and resumed employment with Phillips Petroleum Company until retiring August 1, 1985 in Lindsay, OK. During his career with Phillips, he worked the South Burbank Field and later transferred to Elk City, OK, 1964. The family then was transferred to Tulsa, OK until February, 1966, when they then moved back to the South Burbank Field area. George worked there until being transferred to Plainville, KS where he lived and worked for 7 years and was again transferred to El Dorado, AR. He was promoted to Operations Superintendent of Phillips Petroleum Company where he lived until again being transferred to Lindsay, OK. He remained Operations Superintendent until retiring on August 1, 1985. George lived there until June, 1994, when he moved to Pawhuska, OK and enjoyed his retirement years. George was a member of the Second Baptist Church of El Dorado, AR. He was a member of the Lyons Club in Pawhuska, OK, and a past member of the Lions Club in Plainville, KS where he was President as well as Zone Chairman. He was also past president of the American Cancer Society of Northwest Kansas for five years. George served as Operators Representative for Surface BOPStacks at the Oilwell Blowout Prevention School at the University of Oklahoma in February, 1985. George was a former member and Board of Directors for the American Petroleum Institute in Cushing, OK. George will always be missed and remembered by his friends and family. He took pride in having his family get-togethers and cherished the time with his friends and family. He loved fishing, vacationing, and watching the deer roaming the woods at his home. He always cherished the time spent in Colorado trout fishing with his family members and friends. If George ever knew anyone that was in need, he was there to offer help. George always thought of others before himself and would give his time and listening ear to anyone. He will be remembered by those who knew him, for his loving concern and caring spirit for others. He never forgot a birthday or special date, and could even remember the weather on that particular day. George was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Webb; one brother, Randolph Webb; father, George Drake Webb; and mother, Birdie Pearl (Moberly) Webb. He is survived by one brother, Dale M. Webb of Bartlesville, OK, his children, Teresa Jean Keller and husband, William (Bill) of Woodward, OK, GeorgeThomas Webb, Jr. and wife, Sue of Kimberling City, MO, Randy Michael Webb of the home and Annette Sue Davis of Marlow, OK. Surviving grandchildren include LaVeta Johnson of El Dorado, KS; B.J. Keller of Pensacola, FL; Michael Wasemiller of Medford, OR; Troy Keller of Amarillo, TX; Gregg Wasemiller of Norman, OK; Kimberly Keller of Woodward, OK; Scott Webb of Hubbard, TX; Crystal Davis of Rush Springs, OK; and Rocky Davis of Marlow, OK. George is also survived by a host of loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 7, 2003 at 2:00pm in The Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Military Burial Service will be presented by The American Legion and The VFW. Under the direction of The Johnson Funeral Home.
