F. VANDRUFF BURIED AT BLACKBURN THURS. Died From Injuries Received When Dragged By a Cow He Was Leading W. F. Vandruff, for many years a resident of this section of Oklahoma died Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Vandruff, on North Wood Avenue as a result of internal injuries received when dragged by a cow Sunday evening. The accident occurred when Mr. Vandruff became entangled in a rope with which he was leading the animal and unable to extricate himself, he was dragged some distance. Deceased came to Oklahoma forty seven years ago and bought and settled on a farm on the Arkansas river in Pawnee county. He was one of the earliest settlers in this country. He bought and farmed five hundred acres of land at the mouth of Sycamore creek for a number of years. Funeral services were conducted at the First Christian church of this city Thursday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock by Rev. S. J. Epler, minister of that church, and Rev. E. Poole, pastor of the Presbyterian church. The body was taken to Blackburn and interment was made in the family lot beside his wife, who preceded him in death sixteen years ago. A large number of friends followed the body to its last resting place. Obituary W. F. Vandruff was born in the state of Pennsylvania April 23, 1853. He passed from this life June 4th, 1930, age 77 years, 1 month and 11 days. In 1885 he was united in marriage to Miss Alie Shannon and this happy union continued until death called her home August 5, 1914. To this union was born eight children, three boys and five girls. One daughter died in infancy, and a son, Clarence, passed away March, 1924. There is left to sorrow at his passing six children and their families: Rollie Vandruff, and Clyde Vandruff of Hominy; Mrs. H. C. Stickler, Skeedee; Mrs. C. B. Scott, and Mrs. J. C. Jones of Hominy; Mrs. C. D. Hale, Fairfax and fifteen grandchildren. Mr. Vandruff came to this state from Illinois forty-seven years ago. He had lived here and on the border of Kansas ever since. At the age of 32 Mr. Vandruff was baptised and received into membership of the Christian Chruch. Since the death of his son, Clarence, he has made his home with Mrs. Bessie Vandruff, where he has received most loving care. All of his children were at his bedside when he passed.
