All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Prairie View Cemetery--Prue OK The Hominy News - Progress Wednesday, August 7, 2002 Vol. 34, No. 32 Page 5 Cris Yarbrough Cris Yarbrough was born on Aug. 29, 1912 in Prue to Hugh and Martha Broam Yarbrough. On Aug. 5, 2002 he passed away in Tulsa. He was 89 years old. Cris has been a lifelong resident of Prue. After graduating from Prue High School he went to North Eastern Oklahoma State University for one more year. He married Ruby Treat on June 8, 1968 in Bartlesville. They raised their family in Prue. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prue. Cris enjoyed working with horses and cattle, being a rancher. You could always find him at the weekly cattle sale at the Sale Barn in Hominy. He was a generous person always thinking of other people. He enjoyed going to estate sales and trying to find lost treasures. He loved strawberries getting Horehound candy from his grand kids and especially butter cookies during the Christmas holiday. Cris is survived by his wife Ruby of the home, his daughter Linda and her husband Bill of Prue, one sister Marie Garroutte of Prue, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, also several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Cris was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Manford and Ralph Yarbrough, sisters Zula Reese and Zelpha Campbell. Services for Cris will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thurs. Aug. 8, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Prue with Rev. Garry McDevitt and Rev. Bill Lay officiating. Immediately following service Cris will go by Horse Drawn carriage to Prairie View Cemetery in Prue.
