She entered into rest on November 24, 2002 at Cleveland. She was 100 years old. Viola married Jack Lay on September 13, 1921. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prue and has resided in Prue since 1947. Viola is survived by her son Billy J. Lay and his wife Sheila, Prue, four daughters Ivene and husband Floyd Henley of Wynona, Eddyth and husband Willie Rogers of Wynona, Jennie and husband Tom Yarbrough of Prue, Jackie and husband Charlie Henley of Wynona, 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-granchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter Phillis. Services for Viola were held on Wed. November 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Prue. Funeral services performed by Rev. Garry McDevitt, Bill Lay and Heath Rogers. Musical selections included "Amazing Grace" and "I Want to Stroll Over Heaven" performed by James Jackson. A special song "Jesus Love Me" was performed by grandchildren. Casket bearers were Keith Henley, David Henley, Phillip Rogers, Quintin Rogers, Tommy Yarbrough, Charles Henley, Jack Henley, Kirk Frazier, and Derek Frazier. Interment following at Prairie View Cemetery, in Prue. Service arrangements were under the direction of Powell Funeral Home.
