Tyner, 84, was born April 14, 1917 in Ochelata, Oklahoma to Mr. Leonard Tyner and Mrs. Jessie Hook Tyner. He passed away February 5, 2002 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Services were held February 7, 2002, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Hominy, Oklahoma with Reverend Mark Wright of the First Baptist Church in Hominy officiating. Melvin is survived by his sister, LaVonne Kleir of Claremore, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Emma Lou Delaney of Stephens, Arkansas and a brother-in-law, Weldon Delaney of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Melvin was reared in Ochelata where he attended school. He married Edith Moler in 1956 and they were married for thirty-one years until she passed. He then married Lela Pappan December 21, 1987 until she passed. He worked in the oilfield industry for forty-two years under different companies such as Curt Brown Drilling and Hughes Oil Company. Melvin liked working in his yard and kept it looking healthy and nice. He enjoyed keeping up on the Chicago Cubs baseball team and took interest in the rodeo circuit.
