Friday, Jan. 5, 1912 DEATHS Mrs. J. HENDERSON, daughter of John EDENS, living east of town, died yesterday and was taken to Afton today for interment. Particulars are lacking. ACCIDENT OR SUICIDE Word reached here the first of the week of the tragic death of I.T. CRUM, a prominent young attorney of Miami, who was found in his office with a bullet hole in his temple. He had borrowed a revolver, stating that he wanted to go rabbit hunting. Some think the killing accidental while others hold to the suicide theory. The real manner will probably never be known. BIRTHS Born-to Mr. and Mrs. Frank RILEY, Jan. 2, an 8 ½ lb. boy baby. Frank says he’s another Carl MORRIS, straight up and down. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur PURELL had a little baby born unto them latter part of last week, but lived only a few days. A "TACKY" PARTY Miss Lucy NIDIFFER gave a tacky social for her friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zeke NIDIFFER on last Monday night. There was a big crowd in attendance and they had a barrel of fun, as some of the most ridiculous costumes were in evidence, that could be thought of. Miss Linna WALLEN was awarded the prize as being the "tackiest" one present. WOODMEN INSTALLATION The W.O.W. had installation of officers last Monday night and the wives, sisters, and daughters of the sons of the forest, appeared upon the scene with all kinds of good things to eat, and when the logs were all piled up they adjourned for supper, and it would have tickled a cat to have seen those fellows eat. After supper, some of their floor work was put on and then disbursed. The new officers are as follows: E.E. PRICE, C.E.; W.B. SMITH, A.L.L.D.; A.G. DUMAS, Clk.; R.E. THORNHILL, Esc.; Frank ADKINSON, Wach.; D.M. CARTER, Sen.; Dr. W.B. SMITH, Camp Phys. LOCAL NEWS W.H. GAINES of Narcissa, orders the News to his sister Miss Maymie at Warrensburg, Mo. Floyd SHEPHERD was visiting at his old home at Stella, Mo., the first of the week. Cude HARLIN’s baby has been quite sick this week. Lloyd ROBERTS, our electrician, spent New Years with his parents at Stillwell. Charley SCRITCHFIELD has moved over about Welch to make his fortune. Orville COLE returned to Oklahoma City, Thursday, to re-enter the Business College. J.W. ALLEN of Oseuma, has moved to Miles, Okla. and orders the News to follow him. Claude FRAZIER, living southeast of town, drew the handsome bedroom set at the Cherry Mercantile Cos. store last Monday. Of course he was proud of it-any of us would have been. John McMINN renews the subscription of his daughter Mrs. Frank SHOCKLEY. A.L. MICKELBERRY and family moved into town this week from the farm south of town. T.M. MABREY came in last Sunday morning looking rather sheepish, but we were not surprised. His family will be here in a few days. All good people come back. Mrs. McDARIS has gone to Missouri to see her father, who is quite sick. Mrs. I.W. TESTERMAN visited her mother at Vinita, the first of the week. Frank CONNOLLY has returned to Springfield to resume his studies in Drury College. Miss Kitty PADEN has returned to Independence, where she is taking a business course. Miss Ines CROCKETT came in Tuesday from Haskell, Okla., where she has been for some time. SHILOH NEWS Mrs. Robt. WYLEY has been sick this week. Mr. PECKENPAW’s baby is improving very slowly. Uncle Harve WESTON preached here New Year and had a fine meeting. Mr. HELM butchered six hogs last week, the smallest one weighing little over four hundred pounds. One of Mrs. Jno. WESTs little boys is very ill with pneumonia fever. J.A. HELM and J.L. ENGLAND went to Miami last Wed. on business. Mr. Ed BOND and family, and Mrs. Abby BOWEN and family spent New Year with Mr. and Mrs. T.A. ELLIOTT. OGEECHEE NEWS Clyde BROWN has the measles. Mrs. TRISLER is spending New Year at Wyandott. Miss Dorothy WYFORD was visiting in Fairland Sat. Mr. TRISLER’s niece from Tulsa visited them last week. Mrs. Rebecca ANGEL gave a nice Christmas dinner to her friends and a social dance at evening.
