Friday, January 12, 1912 AGED CITIZEN DEAD Jesse GOINS, familiarly known as "Uncle Dock," aged 80 years, and well known over this section of the country, died at the home of R.M. HALE, his son-in-law, last Tuesday morning at an early hour. Mr. GOINS had been afflicted with asthma for years, and frequently had great difficulty in breathing. When discovered by the family, he was in a half sitting position in bed, and life was extinct. He evidently passed away without much of a struggle. He was a member of the Baptist church and his funeral was preached at the church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Harve WESTON, a life long friend of the deceased, and his remains were interred in the city cemetery here. The bereaved children and friends of the family have the sympathy of the community. OTHER DEATHS An elderly lady by the name of TUCKER, died at her home east of town Wednesday night and was buried in the city cemetery yesterday. Shiloh – Little Dee, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. PECKENPAW, died Friday of spinal meningitis and was buried at Hickory Grove Sunday. LOCAL NEWS M.J. CAMPBELL, senior member of the firm of Campbell Bros. of this place, who has been on the road as traveling salesman for 19 years, has resigned and will take a much needed rest and give the business here his attention. So Marion is now one of us. M.T. MABREY has for the present secured rooms with Mrs. Douglass until he can build and is a citizen of Fairland once more. that’s nothing Tom, we moved away and came back the third time before it took on us. Uncle Jack ENGLAND climbed our stairs Wednesday to have us send the little home paper to his son Jake, in Oregon. J.M. FIELDS of this place, better known as Mack, has been appointed Deputy Sheriff, and will look after Mr. GARMON’s business in this end of the county. Mack ought to make a good one and we predict he will. Jack BIXBY, Mack FIELDS and Wm. KELLY were in Miami, Monday. Mrs. P.V. SUTTON of Vinita attended the funeral of her stepfather, Mr. GOINS, here Wednesday last. Willie MAY returned Saturday evening from a week’s visit at Afton and Miami. Pearl THOMAS orders the little home paper to his brother George at Centerton, Ark. P.V. SUTTON was up from Vinita, Sunday, to see his new grandson. Phil says it looks just like him. The News is informed of the marriage of Mrs. Mabel WALKER, formerly of this place, to Mr. F.L. SMITH, an employee of the Midland Valley railroad, at the home of Mrs. Alice SLONIKER, in Tulsa, on Jan. 6, 1912. SHILOH NEWS Little Willie NOEGEL is quite ill of pneumonia. Grandma ELLIOTT is quite poorly at the home of T.A. ELLIOTT. A little girl baby was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robt. WILMOTH, Jan. 2nd. Milbourn SKELTON who has had pneumonia fever is recovering now. SULPHUR BEND NOTES Jim WHITE has a severe attack of rheumatism.
