JAMES desire to extend their thanks through the News to their neighbors and friends for their assistance and sympathies during the sickness and death of their baby. Lost Their Little One On last Sunday night, death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.P. JAMES and claimed as its victim their little boy baby, of 10 months and 19 days. Funeral services were held at the Latter Day Saints’ church on Monday afternoon, conducted by Eld. J.T. RILEY, after which interment was made on the family lot in the city cemetery. We extend sympathies to the bereaved parents. Local News Mrs. M.F. GARRISON of Afton visited Mrs. J.H. CONNOLLY last Sunday. Jim MCFARLAND lost his purse in Fairland Wednesday night, containing $7o. Tom MABREY found it. Jim is happy again. Sid CAMPBELL went to Kansas City the first of the week to buy a bill of goods. J.H. CONNOLLY was over from Miami Sunday to see the folks and attend the revival. Miss Martha BLACKWELL came in from Independence, Kas., last Tuesday to see the folks. James CHANDLER and family of Centralia were visiting relatives and friends here the first of the week. The Record-Herald says that the federal charges against John HALE has been dismissed on a demurrer. John PIKE, who recently moved here from North Carolina, is a new reader of the News. He also orders the paper to his brother back home. O.M. HALL and family, and Mrs. H.C. FRELLICK of Oseuma, and Miss Francis FRELLICK, of Tulsa, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Vaughn, south of town last Sunday. W.W. BREEDLOVE has moved back to his country home east of town. Mr. BREEDLOVE has a lovely farm home and who could blame him for wanting to get back to it. Mrs. C. HUDSON left Monday evening for San Antonio, Tex., with her daughter Miss Oma, where she goes with a hope of regaining her daughter’s health. May the trip not be in vain. Hudson Creek News Crawford CONNER and Lee DUNCAN were courting in Miami, the first of the week. Eld. HILTON attended the funeral of Mrs. Hayden BREWER, who lived near Pleasant Valley and was buried at Ottawa last Friday. She leaves a husband and two little children to mourn her death. Mrs. HILLEN and Lee DUNCAN and wife spent Sunday at Uncle Billie JAMES’. Mrs. FOLLIS called on Mrs. SCAGGS, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim GARMAN visited their daughter Mrs. Leonard CONNER one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. CRAWFORD CONNER called on C. SHEPHERD, Sunday. Robert BRAZIL and wife of Odin Mo, were guests at the CONNOLLY home the latter part of last week. A Cutting Scrape A little cutting scrape took place on a farm about 8 miles south of town last Tuesday morning when Clyde RIDGEWAY, a young man of that neighborhood, slashed the throat of another young man by the name of COOPER. Dr. EDWARDS was called and took sixteen stitches in the wound and the man is getting along as well as could be expected. RIDGEWAY made an effort to skip the country but was arrested in Afton and is being held awaiting results of COOPER’s condition.
