Friday, Oct. 6, 1911 STELLE-OVERACRE After we had gone to press last week, and had possibly half of our papers printed, we learned of the marriage of Mr. Charles STELLE, a young business man of this place, to Miss Amma OVERACRE, a popular young lady living with her parents east of town. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Harvey WESTON, on Sunday, Sept 24. Just why we did not hear of the wedding we do not know. We had been very busy in our office all week, and relied on our friends to help us at news-gathering, and no one told us. The young people are among our best. PERRY CROCKETT MARRIED We have before us a copy of the Chouteau Herald, containing the account of the marriage of Mr. Perry H. CROCKETT and Miss Mary Florence BURNSIDES, on Sunday, Sept. 24. Lack of space prevents us clipping in full, but note that the wedding was a very elaborate affair, at high noon in the presence of a select company of friends, and was followed by a dinner that did great credit to the culinary art of the bride’s mother. The young couple visited a few days in Fairland, and returned to take up the pleasant pursuit of housekeeping. The groom is a well known and highly respected Fairland boy. May much joy and happiness be theirs. HOUK-BRAUGHT Our old bachelor friend Seaton HOUK, south of town, and Miss Lela BRAUGHT of near Afton, were married in Vinita on Thursday of last week. Both are well known in the town and community, and are of our very best citizens. The event had been expected for some time. The News joins in best wishes. MR. CHERRY’S MOTHER DEAD J.A. CHERRY and Mrs. Price JAMES returned from Norbourn, Mo., last Monday evening where they had been at the bedside and funeral of Mr. CHERRY’s mother, who died on Tuesday of last week at the age of 77 years, as the direct result of a broken limb. The local paper of that place speaks in the highest terms of the deceased and says that there was not a woman in the country with more friends than Mrs. CHERRY. Lack of space prevents us giving a fuller account of her death and burial. The News extends sympathies to the bereaved.
