Friday, December 22, 1911 TWO CHRISTMAS WEDDINGS Right on the eve of Christmas, (yesterday), Uncle Harve WESTON flew into the matrimonial market and dispatched business like a circus manager, tying up two couples in short order. On his way to town he met Mr. Cash BRICE and Miss Letta WINTERS, and he promptly said the ceremony right there in the road that made them husband and wife. Arriving at town he was called into the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.T. CHASTAIN where he found another anxious couple waiting, viz. Mr. Crowel AUSTIN and Miss Vida CHAPPELL, and with his magic wand, quickly transformed them from a single to a married state, and is now ready for another job of the same kind. Next! LOCAL NEWS Uncle John EVANS went to Miami yesterday on business. Miss Kathleen LINCOLN came down from Springfield to spend the holidays with papa, mamma and other friends. Mrs. Lizzie TRISLER left yesterday for a visit with friends at Bartlesville. Miss Toncie FINDLEY left last Wednesday for her home in Kansas City, where she will remain for some time. Don’t stay too long "Lizabeth." Tobe DUMAS and Charley JONES have proved that they are about the most progressive men in town by their having electric lights placed over their front doors. The old scripture text about "some men preferring darkness rather than light," will not apply to them. Ed BAIN, who was shot in the neck about ten days ago, was able to come to town this week. Dr. BYRD had business at Vinita yesterday. Mrs. Chester HAMMONDS was shopping in Afton yesterday. Mrs. W.P. HOWARD is enjoying a visit from her parents from Kiawa, Okla. Frank CONNELY came in yesterday from Springfield to spend Xmas at home. W.W. FERMIN, the harness maker will spend Xmas with his family at Exeter, Mo. Miss WEBB of Rocky Comfort, Mo., is visiting her sister Mrs. Bert HOWARD, this week. Homer CHANDLER and Albert FLINT are home from Independence to spend the holidays. Fred and Don MARSH were over from WELCH last Saturday, seeing how much Fairland had grown. Rev. J.N. TINKLE, formerly of this place, orders the News to his address at Moore, Tex. He is now located about 100 miles from the Mexico line about the same distance from the coast. Look out for the Greezers, Jimmie. Messrs. Jake BURNETT and Geo. GUEST of Joplin was down the latter part of last week giving Bige CHANDLER a few points on how to bag rabbits and quail. Miss Maud CROCKETT returned from a visit to Webb City, last Tuesday. Mrs. STOVER sends the News to her friend, Mrs. S.A. WILLIAMS, at Springfield. Mrs. Lola Garrett BOWERS of Pryor has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Sidney CAMPBELL this week. Homer THOMAS came in the latter part of last week from Ft. Smith, where he has been for some time, firing a railroad locomotive. Grandma YAGER was shopping in Afton Tuesday. Wm KELLEY, Bige CHANDLER, and Jess ANGEL were passengers west Tuesday morning. N.C. GALLEMORE is getting about at himself again and is able to take part in the annual Xmas festivities. James STEVENSON had business at Lone Star last Sunday. P.V. SUTTON was up from Vinita between trains Sunday evening. Jess and Kitty PADEN came in last Saturday from college to spend the holidays.
