Friday, Dec. 29, 1911 BIG CHRISTMAS DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Jim MILLER, west of town, gave a big Christmas dinner to about forty-five relatives and friends on Christmas day. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Lee MILLER and son from Lamar, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Geo. BROOKS and daughter from Ft. Scott, Kas., Mr. and Mrs. A.L. MICKELBERRY and family from near Afton, Mr. and Mrs. Sam AMES and family of Fairland, Mr. and Mrs. August RUBIN and family, Mr. and Mrs. Herman RUBIN and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Aenry [typo?] ALGRIA and family of Fairland. In the afternoon they gave the youngsters a party, and everyone present, old and young, enjoyed the occasion very much. MARRIED – At the Methodist parsonage Thursday evening at 8 o’clock, Mr. Roy S. STEVENS of Fairland to Miss Ollie M. WILLIAMS of Vinita. Rev. W.A. FRAZIER, officiating. Earl SCAGGS and Mis Clara LADD of the Lone Star neighborhood were married on last Saturday by Justice MILLER of Narcissa. BORN—to Mr. and Mrs. Joe WILSON, on Route 1, Dec. 26, a boy. Mr. and Mrs. Jake FRELLICK of Oseuma are the proud parents of a bouncing big boy. OTHER NEWS Frank DARNELL and – WILLIAMS, who were arrested for assaulting and shooting Ed. BAIN some three weeks ago, had their preliminary hearing before Squire TESTERMAN today, resulting in an acquittal. Mrs. S.B. BUSH of Pryor has been visiting friends in Fairland the past week. R.G. RYCROFT and son from Western Oklahoma is visiting his parents here this week. Frank KELLY and wife, formerly of this place, now of Barry County, Missouri, was visiting relatives here last week. A JOINT INSTALLATION The Masonic and Eastern Star lodges of this place held a joint installation of officers on last Wednesday night. LOCAL NEWS Miss Wanda GALLEMORE spent Xmas with friends at Oseuma. John FORD has been enjoying a visit from his brother from Texas. Art. MAHURIN and Levi CROCKETT are now full-fledged Fairlanders. Orville COLE came in from Oklahoma City to take Xmas with home folks. Mr. and Mrs. R.M. PAGE made a flying trip to Seneca and back last Sunday evening. Bert MOORE came down from Monett Xmas day to see how Fairland was celebrating. Miss Dollie MILBOURN won a diamond ring in the Tulsa World’s premium contest. Zoe NEWPORT was visiting Miss Jessie McFARLAND and other friends east of town the first of the week. Vic PERCELL, who has been away for several years, returned to Fairland to spend the holidays this year. Y.E. McCLENDON and wife spent Xmas in Tulsa or some other sea port. Rube AUDRAIN returned from a trip "up north’ last Saturday morning. Houston JAMES and family of Vinita spent Xmas with relatives here. Mrs. Cude HARLIN spent the holidays with her parents at Baxter, Kas. Mrs. Sam MAY has been confined to her bed this week with rheumatism. John CONNOLLY came over from Miami to get a clean pair of socks to hang up. Jim DUNCAN and Frank McCOIN each had a dollar left for the printer after Christmas. George BANDY of Route 1, was a pleasant caller Wednesday and renewed for another year. Wm. ANGEL east of town gave a big dinner on Christmas day to their neighbors and friends. Bob HALL and family went to Afton Christmas day to take dinner with Mrs. HALL’s parents. J.T. WILKINSON, wife and children of Muskogee, have been the guests of Geo. F. MILBOURN and wife this week. The editor and family enjoyed a visit from a cousin, J.N. LINDSEY and son Laloo, of Tulsa, last Saturday and Sunday, whom we had not seen in fourteen years. Arthur HALLAM drew the piano at Campbell Bros. store last Saturday. Christmas morning he hauled it home and they say he’s done nothing but pound on it ever since. Lucky boy, Arthur. SHILOH NEWS Mr. PECKENPAW’s baby is seriously sick this week. Miss Francis HALL has gone home to spend Xmas. Miss Amy HELM spent Sunday with Jessie McFarland. Walter WILMOTH and wife have a big boy baby at their home. Zola NEWPORT of Fairland spent holidays with Jessie McFARLAND. Mr. and Mrs. Henry WHIPKEY spent Xmas with J.A. HELM and wife. Tom ELLIOTT has quit drilling and has gone into the mule business. J.L. ENGLAND and wife and J.A. HELM and wife went to Seneca Thursday evening. J.E. McFARLAND and daughter and J.A. HELM and daughter attended Christmas exercises at Fairland. All of Grandma ENGLAND’s children and grandchildren took dinner with her Xmas day. They had a fine time and lots of grub. You’d ought to have been there Editor. HUDSON CREEK Jesse HUDSON and family spent Christmas with Mr. SAMPLES. Mrs. C. CONNER and children visited her parents at Needmore over Christmas. Len CONNER and Mr. GARMAN went to Miami Tuesday to pay taxes. Dave WINTERS, Cash BRICE, Jack HENDRICKSON and John EDENS and sons, were out Monday hunting wolves, just for a Christmas trick. Jennie JAMES and Tilda WINTERS called at Uncle Billy’s last Sunday. Wm. FOLLIS and family took dinner with their son Harry and family last Sunday, and the return visit was paid Christmas day. George FOLLIS and Jerry NOEGEL each had horses cut with wire
