J.N. TINKLE, of Barry, Tex. Hallo Papa Jimmy! LOCAL NEWS Geo. and Edna HOLLIS of Miami were visiting at the CONNALLY home over Sunday. Miss Edna CROCKETT of Joplin, has been visiting relatives in this community the past week. Fred PENINGTON is visiting his parents at West Plains, Mo., this week. Frank RILEY is driving "Old Pete" in his absence. Miss Edna LEACH of Baldwin, Kas., will open a Millinery department with John A. CHERRY this spring. Watch for her ad in the News. O.K. CHANDLER came in this week from Washington, D.C. where he has been in the capacity of private secretary to Congressman CREAGER. Monroe CARTER returned yesterday from Inola, where he had been for several weeks. Col. BUSH returned Sunday from Bloomington, Ill., where he had been to attend a big horse sale. The Colonel purchased two fine registered thoroughbred percheron stallions, which he brought back with him, and will add to his herd of breeding stock this season. They are dandies. P.V. SUTTON was up from Vinita, Sunday. R.J. BOYD of Afton was up for lodge Saturday night. Walter LAWSON was up from Pryor Creek, Sunday. Levi BEALS of Afton, was a Fairland visitor, Sunday. Dr. Joe DONAHOO was up from Afton, Sunday, on profession business. Mrs. Wid GAINES orders her paper changed from Narcissa, to Route 4, Miami. Miss Francis AUDRAIN is a new name to go on our books. J.M. BIDDLE of Wyandott was over between trains Saturday. W.S. NANCE renews the subscription of his brother J.C. NANCE, Allen, N.M. It looks like C.G. JAMES is to have the finest residence in Fairland. Hurrah for Cal. Mrs. J.D. CROCKETT of Afton came up Monday evening to see her mother who was quite sick the first of the week. Mrs. Cherokee HUDSON went to Vinita, Wednesday. Felix CHANDLER’s little boy has been quite sick the past week. Rev. JONES and Uncle Harve WESTON have been conducting a very successful meeting at Aurora school house this past week. Mrs. S.V. WALLEN was called to Cassville, Mo., the latter part of last week to attend the funeral of her father. She returned Tuesday. A big crowd of young friends of Miss Etta CROCKET, spent the day with her last Sunday, celebrating her 21st birthday. Dinner was served to about fifty persons and splendid good time was reported. D.W. VANN is rebuilding the dilapidated board walk on the south side of CHERRY’s store. This old walk has been an eye sore for a long time and everybody will rejoice to see the improvement. Mr. L.L. WHITE who recently bought the FAUGHT stock of groceries has sold a half interest to his brother-in-law R.A. HARPER of Missouri, who will bwe here soon to assist to the store. The firm will be known from this time on as White & Harper. HUDSON CREEK W.B. HILLEN is moving to Fairland this week. Crawford CONNER sold his hogs last Monday. Grandpa FOLLIS is visiting his son Will this week. Jennie JAMES visited with Letty WINTERS Sunday. Eld. PRUITT was visiting in this neighborhood, this week. We understand that Prayer meeting will be held at Jesse HUDSON’s on Friday night. Chas. DARNELL has gone to the Delaware hills for his lost dog. Hope he will bring the wanderer safely home. $10.00 REWARD A counter day book disappeared from my store the latter part of December, and was possibly carried away by mistake with a bill of goods.
