Friday, March 22, 1912 New Man at Bat Another business deal was perfected the latter part of last week when Zeke NIDIFFER bought Bob BRADLEY’s restaurant on the east side of Main street, and assumed control at once. Building and Improving In our passing around we noted the following: That men, wagons and teams were engaged in the excavating for Joe WEIR’s brick store house. That carpenters were rushing the work on Joe WERTZ’s new residence. That lumber was being placed on the ground for Sherm BRADLEY’s residence building. That carpenters were busy at work on the window and door facings for John CHAMBERS’ new 6 room residence. That A.W. HARLAND was having a new cottage erected in the east part of town. That John GOINS was having his residence in the west part of town treated to fresh paint. That Floyd WARREN was putting down a new concrete walk in front of his property. That S.T. TANNER was having an addition built to his residence property. Baptist Church Notes Our young people organized a B.Y.P.U. last Monday night with John ELLIOTT, president; Jack WALLEN, vice president; Zola NEWPORT, secretary and Arline DUMAS, treasurer. Local News Mrs. PHEBUS has been very low this week with pneumonia. Mrs. Edna WILSON, north of town has our thanks for a renewal. Rev. HUNKAPILLAR of Afton preached at the Methodist church here last Monday night. W.B. HAMILTON was up from Afton Sunday evening to see the children. B.T. JOHNS handed us a big dollar last Saturday to keep the News coming. Mrs. DOUGLASS and Mrs. Irvin JAMES returned Sunday from a visit to Vinita. M.T. MABREY has bought the widow KELLEY property in the west part of town. Mrs. EMMERT and daughter Miss Fay, returned the latter part of last week from a visit in Kansas. Horace B. DURANT of Miami, passed through our town Tuesday on his way to Wyandott. Bob HALL came up from Afton Sunday evening. Bob is just recovering from a severe attack of pneumonia and is looking quite peaked. Cecil SHEPHERD and family returned last Friday night from Springfield and other Missouri towns where they had been on an extended visit. John CHASTAIN was able to get to town last Tuesday, but he looks like an almanac picture of before taking. He says he’s slightly disfigured but still in the ring. A.G. BUSH left last Friday night for Dawson Springs, Ky., to stay awhile for his health. Hope to see him back soon looking hale and hearty. Mrs. Ollie MULLEN of Wyandott, was visiting Mrs. STOVER Monday. Dr. and Att’y DEANS moved their offices last Monday to the new building the doctor recently erected north of the implement house. Dr. H.J. CLARK who recently came here from Tulsa, has rented the rooms vacated by the DEANS brothers over CAMPBELL’s store and will be close neighbor to the News. Bunk MATHIS of Route 1 is a new News reader. Ogeechee News Miss Rebecca BLACKWELL spent Sunday with Miss Opal Flint. Mr. and Mrs. ADAMS were visiting at Mr. HEEKENPEAU’s Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A.A. WYFORD were visiting at Mr. BRIDENSTINE’s Sunday. Mrs. McCOY and daughter spent Monday with Mrs. C.R. ANGEL. Misses Edna and Elsie ANGEL spent Sunday with Miss Laura TRUSLER. They had a nice little singing social at C.R. ANGEL’s Sunday evening.
