Friday, April 19, 1912 Mrs. Letta Roberts Dead Mrs. Letta ROBERTS, aged 81 years old, who lived on Grand river, and who was the mother of Mrs. Dr. LEMONS, died on Wednesday of this week. Her funeral was preached at the Saint church yesterday afternoon by Eld. W.B. HILLEN and her remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Married in Bartlesville R.S. BRADLEY, one of the best known men of Bartlesville, and Miss Anna BYRDD, formerly an instructor in the Bartlesville school, were quietly married Sunday morning at the home of F.G. LEWIS in Ramona. They returned to Bartlesville Sunday afternooon and received the congratulations of their host of friends. Everybody in Bartlesville knows and likes Bob BRADLEY. He came here in the beginning days and by the display of keen foresight and business acumen managed to accumulate a comfortable bank roll. He has retired from active business, but he is still a director in the Bartlesville State Bank and is interested in a number of enterprises. Mrs. BRADLEY was popular in the young social set while she was a resident of the city and has hundreds of friends who wish her happiness. Mr. and Mrs. BRADLEY will have apartments at the St. Claire hotel until Mr. BRADLEY builds a house. – Bartlesville Examiner Shot Horse, Captured Two A great deal of excitement prevailed in the neighborhood of Dodge, Tuesday, when Roger STOVER and Clyde TYNER, both of near Needmore, while driving along the public road leading by Wm. SHELDON’s farm, stopped their horse and commenced shooting at or near Mr. SHELTON’s son, who with his father, are said to have been working in the field at the time. Mr. SHELTON went to the house, got his gun, and came to Grove for assistance in capturing the young men. Not long afterward they were overtaken by Constable BEAUCHAMP and Mr. SHELTON, south of Dodge, and were ordered to stop, which it is claimed they refused to do, and kept on going, when Mr. SHELTON warned them again to stop or he would shoot their horse. Upoon their failure to do so, Mr. SHELTON fired, the ball from the rifle passed through the mare’s neck, killing her instantly. The young men were then brought to Grove and lodged in jail but were released within a short time on bond. It seems that young STOVER had had trouble with Mr. SHELTON, while he was serving in capacity of cooonstable, some time ago, when the young man was coming back from Southwest City. There are conflicting reports regarding the affair, which seems to be a serious one, and the preliminary hearing which was set for yesterday was postponed until the County attorney could get here from Jay, where he is attending district court. After the trial we will be in better positioon to give our readers more facts regarding the affair which we deplore in every sense of the word. – Grove Sun Local News C.L. JONES and W.S.
