Friday, May 26, 1911 HURT IN A RUNAWAY Jerry NOEGEL, living east of town, received a severe shaking up last Saturday when his team ran away, throwing him out of the wagon and bruising him up considerably. Dr. DEANS was called, and treated him and he is reported to be recovering very nicely. WILL SPRINKLE OUR STREETS And Fairland just keeps forging to the front. Arrangements have been made to have our streets sprinkled, and make our town a little more pleasant and comfortable. Our merchants and citizens in general have subscribed very liberally to the project, and a sufficient amount is assured to operate a wagon. Lem WYATT is to be the water boy, and has placed an order for a sprinkler, pump, and other necessary equipment. He thinks he can have the system in operation by the middle of next month. Hurry it up Lem, for we certainly need it if any town ever did. A COMMENDABLE ACT As a proof that this community is composed of the best people in the country, we refer you to a little act of kindness that happened last Saturday. Mr. Frank McCOY, who lives on a farm north of town, has been having considerable sickness in his family this spring, and has himself been confined to his bed for some time. Last Saturday morning thirty-six teams and cultivators appeared in his field and plowed his entire corn crop of sixty-five acres. They expect to return tomorrow and give it another plowing. Needless to say, the act was heartily appreciated by the unfortunate neighbor, and those who assisted in the work will surely have their reward. LOCAL NEWS J.B. THORNHILL spent Sunday in Afton.
