G. DENNIS, aged 26 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.B. DENNIS, who died at the home of his parents on the south side last Sunday morning about 6 o’clock of typhoid fever, being sick about ten days. His funeral was preached at the Christian church on Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. W.T. CUMMINS of Seneca, and was buried at the city cemetery. Besides his father’s family he leaves a young wife to battle the storms of life alone, who has the sympathies of the town and community. LOCAL NEWS Frank BYRD has the frame up for a nice residence on East Church Street. Miss Elsie SUTTON and Mrs. Maud GIBSON went to Vinita on a visit this morning. Mrs. Ed BEESON returned from a visit to Missouri last Saturday, accompanied by her sister and husband. Uncle Ab HARLIN has begun the erection of his big modern home in the east part of town. Now look out for a dandy. Street Commissioner CHAMBERS complains that he can not do real good work on the streets because of so many wheat wagons from the viciity of Afton and Miami. Too bad. Quite a crowd of friends of Ed BEESON gave him a surprise birthday party last night. They could be heard enjoying themselves until almost midnight. Particulars are lacking. Misses Sybil CONNOLLY and Zola NEWPORT entertained their Sunday School classes at the home yesterday afternoon. Out door games were enjoyed and ice cream and cookies were served. On account of Mrs. NUNAMAKER being sick, their lunch room has been closed the past week. N.C. GALLEMORE has been quite ill this week. Miss Lenna WALLEN came home from Grove, Saturday evening. Fred WALKER has opened a blacksmith shop on the south side. Misses Edna and May CROCKETT of Webb City, are visiting our town. Miss Jocie ROUTON has been absent from the store this week on account of sickness. Misses Arline DUMAS, Eulah MAY and Minnie WAITS, went to Claremore Wednesday to visit friends. The News is requested by the relatives of Geo. DENNIS, deceased, to say that they very gratefully appreciate the assistance rendered them in the sickness and death of their son, brother, and husband. Joe ECK advances another dollar to keep the News coming. Clyde, Bertie and Sybil CROCKETT of Afton spent Sunday here. Jim CHANDLER was over from Centralia the latter part of last week. J.K. WISE of Skiatook sends the wherewith to keep the News coming. Mrs. Ten BROOK and daughter Junita returned Saturday from Maysville. W. PENINGTON and wife came in Saturday from Mountain Grove, Mo., to visit their boys here. Mrs. J.W. RUSSEL left Monday, for a visit with friends at Francis, Okla. BIXBY Frank TANNER’s children of Centralia, have been visiting their grandparents here this week. Fred PENINGTON made his regular trip to Seneca, Sunday. Just why Fred persists in spending his money going to Seneca, when there is so many pretty girls in Fairland, is more than we can understand. SUPPER ON THE NEOSHO There was a crowd of townites, twenty-odd in number, who went out to Conner’s bluff last Sunday afternoon and spent the evening on the banks of the beautiful Neosho, roaving, wading, bathing, etc., and eat their supper on the big flat rocks. The only incident of any consequence was the murdering of a little snake and the discovery of a pully-bone in Jack WALLEN’s pocket. $20 REWARD I will give a reward of $10.00 for the conviction of the person taking the tarpaulin from my separator 1 mile east of Fairland on Monday night Aug. 7, and $10.00 for the return of the tarpaulin. Miss Blanch DENBOE of Mexico City, Mexico, visited her uncle John EDENS, a few days last week. Mrs. CONNER went to Narcissa one day last week to call on the little lady that arrived at the home of Wid GAINES, on Tuesday to make her home with them. OGEECHEE NEWS The Misses TRISLER spent Sunday with the Misses WHIPKEY. Mrs. Eula ANGEL is enjoying a visit from her cousin this week. Mrs. ANGEL and her cousin spent the day with Mrs. WYFORD, Sunday. Mrs. and Mrs. TRISLER spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. McQUERRY Sunday. We all had a nice time eating ice cream and watermelon at Mr. ADAMS’ last Sunday. SHILOH NEWS Mrs. A.J. McFARLAND has been quite ill. Mrs. J.L. ENGLAND has been on the sick list the past week. Mrs. Jack ENGLAND spent Sunday with Mrs. J.E. ENGLAND. Mrs. Tom CROCKETT spent Friday with Mrs. J.E. McFARLAND. Mr. LEFFER and family visited Mrs. Rebecca ENGLAND, Sunday. J.F. ENGLAND and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Rebecca ENGLAND. Uncle Harve WESTON will preach here next Sunday. Everybody come. J.E. McFARLAND and daughter Jessie spent Sunday with Uncle Ben CHANDLER. Last Saturday being Mrs. Henry WHIPKEY’s 20th birthday, quite a number of her friends and relatives gave her a surprise dinner. They all enjoyed themselves fine and had plenty of grub.
