Friday, Sept. 22, 1911 LOCAL NEWS Miss Opal VANN orders the little home paper to her uncle, John PURCELL, at Zena, Okla. Mrs. CORLETT and little son of Vinita, were visiting her mother, Mrs. HAMILTON, the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Sam MAY visited in Afton, Sunday. Mrs. Wm. KELLY and children visited Afton, Sunday. Grandma LANFORD of Afton has been visiting here this week. Miss Vida SMITH of Cleora has enrolled in the Fairland schools. Homer PADEN orders the News to his brother Jess, who is attending school at Chillicothe. A.L. WHIPKEY broke the monotony last Saturday by placing a barrel of new sorghum molasses on the market. At the city council meeting on last Friday night, L.L. WHITE was chosen as trustee from the fourth ward, Prof. PRIER having resigned. D.W. VANN went to Springfield the latter part of last week and brought Mrs. VANN home Sunday morning. Everybody is glad to know that Mrs. VANN is now improving, but we are all sorry that she had to sacrifice a limb. HUDSON CREEK Elsie BRICE called at Mr. EDENS’ last Monday. C. CONNER and family were shopping in Miami last Monday. Mrs. C. CONNER and children called on Len CONNER and family Sunday afternoon. Mr. COGER and wife and Harry FOLLIS and family visited Wm. FOLLIS’ last Sunday. John CONNOLLY and wife of Fairland called at W.C. JAMES’ last Sunday afternoon. Harry FOLLIS is cutting his wisdom teeth, and they say he is very puny. Harry, you have our sympathy. John WEST and family, Grandma WESTON, and Miss Pearl FOUNTAIN, visited John EDENS and family last Sunday.
