Friday, Sept. 29, 1911 LOCAL NEWS Alvin VENIS has gone to Colfax, Ind., to attend school, and his mother orders the News to him. Leonard CONNER says it’s a boy, and tipped the beam at 11 ½ pounds. born on Monday last. Robert HANEY and wife of Oklahoma City, were here the latter part of last week visiting with relatives. M. DAMES of Vinita was up last Sunday to see Mrs. DANIELS, who is sick at the home of her sister, Mrs. FREEMAN. Miss Jessie DAWSON of near Oseuma, and her aunt, Mrs. LEVI, Eureka Springs, were callers at the News office Monday. The little baby girl of Mr. and Mrs. John SHANK, south of town, died last Sunday night and was buried on Monday at Hickory Grove cemetery. Mrs. M.L. NICHOLS, wife of the singer in the meeting at the Baptist church, came in Monday evening from Catoosa, to assist in the meeting here. Misses Eula and Dollie MAY visited Afton, Saturday. Mrs. Lucy NIDIFFER came in from Muskogee last Saturday on a visit. A.J. THARP went to Vinita on Monday last to do some work in that town. Misses Minnie and Rosa WOODSON were shopping in Vinita last Saturday. Rev. J.T. FARRIER and wife of Hudson Creek, attended church here Sunday. Grandma YAGER and Mrs. F. NIDIFFER left Monday on a visit to North Missouri. Oliver PRICE and Suel MILBOURN went to Vinita Monday night to see "The Third Degree." Chas. BODIE of Afton was up last Friday watching the many improvements going on. Miss Bettie BYRD is having a nice four room cottage built in the west part of town for rent. It may be a little stale but we got it late. Mr. Raymon L. GRIEVES and Miss Anna BLAIR, prominent young people southeast of town, were married on the 12th inst at the residence of Rev. Harve WESTON. Mrs. NUNAMAKER and her mother Mrs. BROWN, left Monday for Cherryvale, Kas., to visit Mrs. BROWN’s mother. They will be joined at Vinita, by Mrs. LAMONS, a grand-daughter of the aged woman, and her baby, a great-granddaughter. The old lady is now in her 84th year. Miss Lisle DUMAS has been visiting friends in Monett this week. Judge TESTERMAN is keeping batch while his wife is visiting in Vinita. Mr. Charles HARRIS of Monett, Mo., has located in Fairland, and is prepared to furnish estimates on Brick, Stone, and Cement work. Mr. HARRIS is a practical Mechanic, and is at present at the Woodson Hotel. Cement Side Walks a specialty. OGEECHEE NEWS A.A. WYFORD and family spent Sunday with Thos. CROCKETT. Rev. CONNER preached at Ogeechee school house last Sunday to a large and attentive congregation. Mrs. BLACKWELL, who has been sick for several weeks, is but little better. SHILOH NEWS Miss Francis HALL, our teacher, who has been sick with typhoid fever, is improving nicely. Miss Jessie McFARLAND spent Saturday night and Sunday with Miss Opal VANN. Mrs. Rebecca ENGLAND and Kathleen McFARLAND returned from Vinita Saturday. Miss Jessie JAMES is teaching in Miss HALL’s place this week.
