E. Moore, Clerk of Camp No. 7798, Modern Woodmen of America, Fairland, Okla. J.G. Van Deever dead. Wire standing at once. H. Mulkins. The News has told repeatedly of the Doctor's critical condition and we were all fearful of his recovery, but there lingered a hope in every breast that he had reached the worst and would survive. But no so. His trip almost half way across the continent to reach the most skilled and learned men in the medical schools was in vain. We all expected it and yet it was a shock. The Doctor was a good man. Not perfect of course, and had faults as all men have, but we have lost a good citizen and a good business man, and it is sad to give him up, but we must. Dr. Van Deever was a member of the Modern Woodmen at this place, in good standing and carried a $2000 life policy made payable to his mother living at Vinnie, Ky. He was also a member of the Odd Fellow fraternity at this place.
