The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Source: Miami Record-Herald - November 1926 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Veteran Mining Man Succumbs at Age 63- Funeral at 2:30 Tuesday Commerce, Nov. 8 - (Special) Jasper Newton CLEMENTS, veteran field employee of the Commerce Mining and Royalty company and one of the pioneers in the Ottawa County mining district, died at 9 o'clock Sunday morning at his home -312 South Vine street, Commerce. He was 63 years old. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Hattie CLEMENTS; one son, Jessie CLEMENTS of Commerce, and four daughters, Mrs. Mildred WEDDINGTON, Mrs. Myrtle STEVENS and Mrs. Francis REED all of Commerce, and Mrs. Lorraine KENNEDY of Cardin. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J.M. HUTTON and Mrs. Hattie FISHER, both of Joplin, and 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Commerce Christian church. The Rev. A.P. Cameron, pastor of the First Christian church of Miami, will speak. The Odd Fellows, of which Mr. CLEMENTS was a member, will have part in service. Burial will be in the G.A.R. cemetery under direction of the Mitchelson Undertaking company.
