Ruth Cartwright, age 86, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, was born August 26, 1920 in Picher, Oklahoma to Oscar and Tabitha (Griffith) Philibert. She passed from this life on November 9, 2006 in Muskogee. Ruth grew up in the Oktaha area, and for several years, she was a caretaker and housekeeper for the elderly. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Ruth loved the Lord and attended the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruth was preceded in death by her father and mother, Oscar and Tabitha Philibert; husband, Bruce Cartwright; grandson, John David Yanez; two brothers, Furman "Buster" and Harvey Philibert; two sisters, Mary Watson and Bonnie Bolinger; daughter-in- law, Judy Cartwright; and son-in-law, John (Jack) Hopkins. Ruth's legacy is continued by her four sons, Jerry Cartwright, Terry Cartwright, Larry Cartwright (wife, Susan) all of Muskogee, and Garry Cartwright (wife, Becky) of Vallejo, CA; six daughters, Marjorie Bailey (husband, Robert) of Lincoln, NE, Carolyn Yanez (husband, John) of Valley Springs, CA, Mary Gatdula (husband, Larry) of Corning, CA, Rita Crigger (husband, William), Rhonda Collard (husband, Bobby) and Evelyn Hopkins, all of Muskogee, OK. Ruth also precedes her sister, Mildred Drake of San Diego, CA; and 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great- grandchildren. A private family gathering was held in memory of Ruth. Arrangements are under the direction of Muskogee Cremation & Funeral Service, 1325 North York St. Muskogee, OK.
