Mr. Stubbs, 81, of Medford, died July 3, 2002, at his home. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association, 1425 Irving, Suite 100, Portland, OR 97232, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501. The 12th of 15 children, he was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Picher, Okla., to Perl Clifton and Dora Edith Hanson Stubbs. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1934 from Idaho. He married Arlene Marie Colpitts on Dec. 6, 1958, in Central Point. She survives. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a motor machinist’s mate 1st class who served on the USS Mackinac. The small seaplane tender was one of the first ships in the U.S. fleet to sail into Tokyo Harbor after Japan’s surrender. In 1977, he retired as the supervisor of the Forest Service’s fleet of vehicles at the agency’s shop off McAndrews Road in Medford. A heavy equipment operator by training, he had worked there 34 years. He was a member of the Central Point Grange for 30 years. His hobbies included his Model T truck he had dubbed "Henry," and traveling, fishing and bowling. In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Michael L. Reames and Ricky Reames, both Medford, Clifford Sutton, Boise, Idaho, and Donald L. Stubbs, Bellevue, Neb.; one daughter, Sharon Rossback, Coos Bay; one brother, Paul Stubbs, Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Elverna McDonnell, Cannon Beach, and Dorathy Taylor, Lakewood, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters. Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
