All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Eugene Register Guard 31 Oct 2004 Joseph Garoutte A memorial service will be held today for Joseph "Joe" Garoutte of Salem, formerly of Eugene, who died Oct. 27 of age-related causes. He was 83. Garoutte was born Feb. 28, 1921, in Stotts City, Mo., to Houston and Nannie Clark Garoutte. He was raised in Quapaw, Okla., and was a devoted Okie. He moved to Oregon in 1948 and lived in Marion. The following year he met his future wife, Jeanne Hudson, in a bean field in West Stayton. They married in Albany on April 7,1949. He worked at Eugene Plywood and lived in Lane County until 1967. He later was employed by Boise Cascade in Independence. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Max of Bend, John of Powell Butte and Steve of Prineville; three daughters, Jody Martin of Tonasket, Wash., Dona Garriker of Okanagan, Wash., and Lucinda Garoutte of Salem; a brother, Houston of West Stayton; a sister, Nancy Garoutte of Salem; 23 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Golden's Funeral Home in Salem. The memorial service begins at 2 p.m. also at Golden's. A celebration of life will occur after the memorial at the family home.
