LENARD GRIFFIS Retired Rev. Lenard Elbert Griffis, who served at Assembly of God churches in Healdsburg, Windsor, Santa Rosa and Graton, died Feb. 26 at a Cloverdale convalescent hospital of complications from diabetes. He was 74. He was a lumber grader in Healdsburg before being ordained with the church. He was a minister from 1955 until retiring in 1984. He was born in Zincville, Okla. Griffis and his wife, Vineta Griffis, moved to Bonanza, Ore., when he retired. They returned to Santa Rosa in 1991 to be near their children because of his health. He was a devoted husband and father. He also was an avid fisherman with a goal of teaching the world to love fishing. He also was a self- taught master gardener. Besides his wife of 53 years, Griffis is survived by his daughters, Mary Gentry of Santa Rosa and Minnie Duncan of Reno, Nev.; sons, Lenard Griffis Jr. and Ray Griffis, both of Santa Rosa; brother, Ray Griffis of Woodland; sisters, Freda Burns of Ukiah and Frances Terrill of Boron in Southern California; by five grandchildren, two step- grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sebastopol. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Country Assembly of God Church in Graton.
