All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Golden Gate National Cemetery--San Bruno CA Santa Rosa Press Democrat Published on April 28, 1995 JAMES HILBURN James Lloyd Hilburn, a self-taught guitarist who performed at various establishments in Sonoma Valley, died Tuesday at a Sonoma hospital. Hilburn, 76, was born in Picher, Okla. He lived in Sonoma for more than 40 years. He was a sheetmetal worker for more than 32 years at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. As a musician, he played at Little Switzerland and at Paul's. He also performed with Bud Thompson. Hilburn enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Jack London Post of the American Legion of Glen Ellen for more than 48 years. He also was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He and his wife, Josephine Hilburn of Sonoma, were married for 59 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Mary Price of Sonoma, Pat Pedersen of Sebastopol, and Betty West of Plains, Mont.; sisters, Imogene Cornelison Sanders and Ruth Sanders, both of Oklahoma; grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Private family services were held at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno.
