All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Cemetery--Bakersfield CA The Bakersfield Californian Sunday, 3 July 2005 RICHARD EARL HUTCHINSON (HUTCH) February 16, 1912 - June 26, 2005 Richard Earl Hutchinson (Hutch) February 16, 1912 June 26, 2005 Visitation for Richard Earl Hutchison will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery on Wednesday morning, July 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Kenneth Noel will officiate. Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; son, Michael and daughter-in-law Ardis. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Liz Hutchison; daughter, Yvonne Hutchison all of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Christy, Shelly, Jenny and Melissa; great grandchildren, Alexander, Hunter, Megan, Jonah and Felicity as well as numerous other family members and friends. Richard was born February 16, 1912 in Fairland, Oklahoma and he passed away June 26, 2005 in Bakersfield, California. Dick met the love of his life, Thelma and they were married for 53 years. Dick and Thelma came to Bakersfield in 1936 to settle with their three children, John, Yvonne and Michael. He was active in the community and worked as a machinist for the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired as a Locomotive Engineer in the early 1970's. Dick was a member of the Retired Railroad Employees and Southern Pacific Golf Team of the Bakersfield Division. Dick was a recognized Elder of the Cherokee Tribe and was proud of his Indian heritage. He was a member of the Ani Yon Society, The American Indian Council and the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. He was instrumental in the organization of several American Indian Pow Wow's in Bakersfield. Dick enjoyed playing his fiddle with various senior country music bands at Senior Citizen Centers and Convalescent Hospitals in and around Bakersfield. At the age of 91, Dick was bowling twice a week with his daughter and his senior friends at Southwest and Westchester Bowl. Dick had a great enjoyment and passion for life and we are richer for having known him. His living presence will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
