Joslin, Lee LEE JOSLIN Passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the age of 81. Born in Picher, Oklahoma, he moved at age 5 to the Pleasanton/Sonol area. He attended Sunol Glen Elementary School and Amador High. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17, and served 2 years during World War II as a Machinist's Mate, in the engine room of an oil tanker in the Pacific. He experienced a typhoon off Okinawa while aboard. He worked as a Maintenance Machinist for a number of companies during his 44 year working career and retired from Hudson Lumber Company, San Leandro, in 1987. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eleanor Brubaker Joslin. Their daughter, Lauren Joslin Weaver, passed away in 1997. He loved outdoor activities, and exploring untrammeled natural areas. He was an ardent and skilled hunter, fisherman, marksman skier and skin diver. He belonged to the Richmond Gun Club, the Chabot Gun Club and the San Leandro Yacht Club. He planned and ran the Chabot Trap Shooting Range for several years and taught fellow shooters to reload ammunition. His enthusiasm for skindiving let to his teaching diving skills for the Hayward Area Recreation District, and his membership in and early Diving Club called the "Aqua-Tutus". He was a gifted mechanic, able to make all sorts of malfunctioning devices operate. His warmth, ready smile and generosity in helping others, in addition to his unfailing sense of humor will be missed by family and friends, in spite of his self- chosen nickname of "Old Grouch". In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held. His ashes will be scattered near his boyhood home of Sunol.
