He was a former miner and farmer. Services are pending at the Cosby funeral home, Grove. Miami News Record May 13, 1976 Page 3, column 4 J. HENRY TURNER J. Henry Turner, 78, Selmar, Calif., died there Tuesday. He had lived in Selmar three weeks, moving there from Socorro, N.M. Mr. Turner was born March 21, 1898, in Joplin. He had worked as a miner in the Tri-State district while residing at Picher, Commerce and Miami until moving to Fairland where he farmed. He moved to New Mexico from Fairland in 1965. Mr. Turner was a member of the Fairland Baptist church and IOOF lodge. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Vauletta Evans, selmar; four brothers, Kermit Turner, Commerce, Ted Turner, Westville, Burt Turner, Wyandotte and Elmer Turner, Quapaw; two grandsons whom he reared, Henry Franklin Gillespie, Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and Gary M. White, Sun Valley, Calif.; two adopted grandsons and four great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturdy at 2 p.m. in the Fairland Baptist church with the Rev. Robert Ullom officiating. Burial will be in the Wyandotte cemetery under the direction of the Cosby funeral home of Grove. IOOF rites will be conducted at graveside.
