King were married in this city January 19, 1902, at the residence of Rev. Jerry Hubbard, the officiating minister. The groom is the son of J.B. Barlow, one of the best known settlers in the Ottawa neighborhood and the bride is the daughter of Joseph King, another of the old settlers. After the ceremony, Uncle Jerry and Mrs. Hubbard accompanied the couple to the home of the bride's parents and participated in the pleasures of the wedding supper. Uncle Jerry tells us that he had been engaged to marry the parents of the bride but was prevented getting to the place in time for the marriage ceremony by high water in a river that he had to cross. Another minister was procured to perform the ceremony. but in the meantime the water had subsided enough for him to cross and he got to the house in time for the wedding feast. Fact is Uncle Jerry has never been known to be too late for a feast. On that occasion, his persistence in reaching the happy scene at the earliest hour possible was rewarded by another couple invoking his services to tie the knot of matrimony. The Herald extends congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Titus Barlow.
