She attended Cleveland Public Schools most of her life and graduated from there in May of 1983. During her High School years, she was active in Band and enjoyed playing the clarinet, bass clarinet and oboe. She attended Central Area Vo-Tech and was a member of DECA. She worked at our local Cleveland Sonic during High School and continued working for Sonic Industries across Oklahoma for several years afterward. Karen married Burton Lee Cummings on June 9, 1988. She relocated with her family to Alma, Arkansas in April of 1994 where she had come to call home with her husband and three daughters; LaJuanna, April and Sarah. Her many hobbies included reading, swimming, caring for animals, HAM radios and an avid love of meteorology. She struggled with illness, but still managed to enjoy camping and outdoor activities with her family. She returned to heaven Sunday, January 14, 2001. Karen will be greatly missed. Karen is survived by her husband Burton Cummings of the home; daughters LaJuanna Sue Cummings, April Mae Cummings and Sarah Elizabeth Cummings all of the home; parents Clyde and Alice Huffines of Cleveland, Oklahoma; a sister, Mary Anne Smith of Bentonville, Arkansas; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Services will be held January 20, 2001 at 2:00 pm at the Western Heights Baptist Church with Pastor David head officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home, Inc.
