She was the daughter of Dan and Emily Ann Herring. Connie moved at an early age to Tulsa, were she attended school through junior high. She then moved with her family to Cleveland where she attended high school, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1970. Shortly after graduation, Connie was married to Johnni Allen at the First Christian Church in Cleveland on Dec. 24, 1970. The couple moved to Tulsa for a couple of years before establishing their home in Cleveland. They had three children, Robert, Travis and Michelle. Upon her return to Cleveland, Connie worked at the First Christian Church Daycare Center for a couple of years. She then accepted employment with the Cleveland Wal- Mart when it opened and has been employed there for over twenty years. She had been serving as a support manager for the past few years. Connie was a member of the First Christian Church. She loved to travel but her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren. She passed away on Tues., Feb. 13, 2001 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa at the age of forty-eight years, three months and fourteen days. Connie is survived by her husband, Johnnie Allen, of the home; mother, Emily Herring, Cleveland; father and step-mother, Frank and Marilyn Herring, Tulsa; three children, Robert Michael Allen, Sr., John Travis Allen, and daughter Michelle LaDawn Hughes, all of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Dayci Ann Allen, Corben Travis Allen, and Robert Michael Allen, Jr., Allison Renay Allen, brother John Herring, Cleveland; step- sister, Marcia Kelley, Temple, Texas; and a step-grandson, Daniel Lyndon Lazear. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Sat., Feb. 17, 2001 at the First Christian Church in Cleveland with Dakota Rush and Dick Williams officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
