Kinney was born December 30, 1856 in Hart Co KY and departed this life February 28, 1931 at his home near Cleveland, OK. He leaves to morn his departure, a wife, Mrs. Dora Kinney and four children, four of the eight children, having proceeded him in death. Mrs. Lee Garrison, Sand Springs OK, Mrs.Ben, Moore, Cleveland, OK, Mr David Kinney, Corsicona, TX, Mrs. Jeff Wadley, Oilton, OK are the living children. There also three step-children, Mrs. S. E. Northorup, Wynona, OK, Mrs.Henderson, Cleveland OK and Mr. Jeff Powell of Wynona, OK. Also, two sisters, Mrs. Mammie (Nannie) Johnson, Mumfordville, KY and Mrs. Martha Logsdon, Barlow, KY. There are also twenty-one grandchildren and a host of friends and acquaintances. Mr. Kinney came to Oklahoma at the opening of the strip to settlement, where he has made his home since then. He has a wide circle of friends in both his immediate neighborhood and in and around Pawnee. The deceased was not a member of any church, but just before death, gave evidence that he was trusting Christ. This is a great consolation to those whom leaves behind, for we turn to the words of Christ "If a man believeth in me, though he die, yet shall he live again". The funeral service was conducted at the home Sunday at two o'clock, Rev. C. A. Butler pastor of the Baptist Church of Cleveland, officiating.A large company of friends and relatives were present. Mr.& Mrs. Dave Kinney, Jr. of Corsiciania, Texas were called home on account of the death of his father. They will return soon to Texas.
