Visitation: June 23, 2002 Service: June 24, 2002 Cemetery: Woodland Cemetery Dorothy Ruth Morgan, lifelong Cleveland resident, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the Cushing Regional Hospital, at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months and twenty-three days. Dorothy Ruth was born October 26, 1922 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Clyde Albin and Ruth K. Morgan. She moved with her family at the age of two to Cleveland where she was raised and attended school. Dorothy Ruth graduated from Cleveland High School in 1940. Shortly after graduation, Dorothy Ruth attended business college in Tulsa for a while before accepting employment with an insurance company. During World War II she worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. After the war, she returned to Cleveland when she began working for the Indian Electric Cooperative. A job offer with a physician's office moved her to Bartlesville in 1949. Dorothy Ruth had worked in Bartlesville for a couple of years when her brother, James R. Morgan was killed in an automobile accident and she returned to Cleveland to be near her parents. Upon her return to Cleveland she went back to work for the Indian Electric Cooperative. She served as a work order clerk for the IEC for nearly thirty-six years before retiring in 1988. Dorothy Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities including Sunday school teacher. In addition to her brother, she was preceded in death by her parents. Dorothy Ruth is survived by her sister and her husband, Barbara and William R. Gowan, Durham, North Carolina; three nieces, Jennifer Griffin, Hillsboro, North Carolina, Jan Elizabeth Gowan, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Amy R. Gowan Bryant, Mebane, North Carolina; three great nieces, and one great nephew. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Abbott officiating. Burial was at the Woodland Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
