Edwards, Frank D. "Toad"

Visitation for Frank D. Edwards "Toad" will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 
p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007 at Mish Funeral Home (120 Minner 
Ave.) and graveside services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 
at 10:00 a.m. at Shafter Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Holt of the Woodlake 
Southern Baptist Church in Three Rivers, California will officiate. 
Frank was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on June 6, 1933 to John and Laura 
Edwards. As a small boy he moved to Shafter, California with his 
parents, brothers, Leroy, Johnny, Bill, Ted, and his sister, LaWanda. 
While in Shafter he met and married his first wife and mother of his 
children, Jean. They moved to Bakersfield where they resided together 
for 45 years. Jean preceded him in death in 1997. Dad enjoyed 
gardening; he often planted a very large tomato garden, sometimes 
consisting of 300 plants. He provided tomatoes to everyone he came in 
contact with. Over the years he made so many friends they came back 
year after year to get the best tomatoes grown in Bakersfield. In 
2000 Frank met and married Donna Wirth, whom he adored. In 2004 they 
moved to Bodfish, California where he was currently living prior to 
his passing. Dad loved living there because he was close to Lake 
Isabella where he could get his friend, Dan and his boat and go 
fishing. Frank is survived by his wife Donna; son, John; three 
daughters, Brenda Welch and her husband, Lonnie; Linda Gallagher and 
her husband, Dale; Renee Bookout and her husband, Brent; sister, 
LaWanda Moore and her husband, Frank Hernandez; 7 grandchildren; 9 
great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, J.R. Ashby; and 
numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was a loving person to all who new 
him. He will be greatly missed by all of us. Frank D. Edwards (Toad) 
June 6, 1933 - Aug. 20, 2007
