Robert S. Francy

LUBBOCK - Robert S. Francy, 87, died Thursday, March 5, 1998.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Happy 
with the Rev. Howard Childers and the Rev. Joe Findley officiating. 
Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Rix Funeral Directors.

Mr. Francy was born near Happy. He graduated from Happy High School 
and Hill's Business College. He was a farmer and a stockman. He lived 
in Swisher County for all of his life until moving to Lubbock in 
1996.

He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Happy. He 
served as an ASCS commissioner for 61 years. He also served on the 
Happy School Board, the Grain Sorghum Producers Board, the Wheat 
Producers Board, the Swisher County Hospital Board and the Soil 
Conservation Service.

Mr. Francy married Jessie Hatcher in 1934 at Pawnee, Okla.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Frances Hunt of Hilton 
Head Island, S.C., Mary Cato of Lubbock and Ruth Frandsen of Tulsa, 
Okla.; a sister, Ferne Patching of Tulia; three grandchildren; and 
eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 3 
p.m. today. The body will be available for viewing at the church from 
noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The family requests memorials be to the Volunteer Fire Department, 
P.O. Box 216, Happy, Texas 79042.
