She came to Pawnee County from near Joplin Mo., during the opening with her husband and children, and settled on a claim adjoining the townsite of Valley. Her husband died about fifteen years ago, and was buried in the little cemetery on their place, and they laid her at rest beside him. She was a consistent Christian, and tried to live every day as tho, she knew it to be her last. A better neighbor in sickness and bereavement, we never knew, always kind and thoughtful. She has gone to her reward, and while we grieve for a kind friend and a loving mother, we know that our loss is her eternal gain, and that she is now where sorrow and suffering, such as she had known for so many years, never come, and where the songs of the redeemed arise before the throne of God forever. She leaves three sons and a daughter to mourn her loss: John, Russell and Clarence, and Mrs. Myrtle Gowing, of Maramec, who have the sincerest sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.
