Visitation: December 06, 2002 Service: December 06, 2002 Cemetery: Woodland Cemetery Lorene Lay was born May 21, 1917 in Addington, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jess and Nancy Frances Adams. She moved with her family at an early age to Fort Cobb, Oklahoma where she was raised and attended school. Lorene was married to Otis Clyde Lay on June 30, 1937 in Fort Cobb. After their marriage the couple moved to Arkansas, then later to California, and returning to Laparto, Arkansas. The couple had five children, Preston, James, David, Gail and Cathy. The Lay family moved to Cleveland in January 1959. Lorene worked for many years as the custodian for the First Christian Church where she was a faithful member. Otis preceded her in death on December 14, 1982. Lorene passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2002 at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at the age of eighty-five years, six months and fourteen days. In addition to her husband, Lorene was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Marvin, Roy, Ted and Preston. Survived by her three sons, Preston Lay, Cleveland, Oklahoma, James and Sharon Lay, Pioneer, Louisiana and David Lay, Cleveland, Oklahoma; two daughters, Gail Lay, Cleveland, Oklahoma, Cathy and Jim Allen, Homer, Michigan; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother, Lester Adams, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Eva Rife, Anadarko, Oklahoma and Joyce Cloud, Blanchard, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2002 at the Chapel of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home with Rev. David Head officiating.
