All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Roosevelt Memorial Park--Los Angeles CA Los Angeles Times Friday, 26 August 2005 MARTIN, Helen Marie - CLEVELAND, OKLAHOMA One of WWII's "Rosie the Riveters" passed away August 17, 2005 in Pendleton, Oregon. Helen moved to Oregon to be closer to relatives. Helen was born June 14, 1919 at Cleveland, Oklahoma to William and Myra Copelan. In the 1930s the Copelan family moved to the Visalia, CA area where Helen met and married the love of her life, Johnny Martin (deceased November, 1969). Also deceased are her brothers, William Copelan, Ernest E. Copelan, and Claude Copelan. Helen and John had no children, but were love by numerous nieces and nephews. While John was serving over seas in the Army during WWII Helen worked on aircraft at Los Angeles Airport thus becoming one of the "Rosie the Riveters." Other jobs after the war were varied until her last employment working for Los Angeles County as a payroll clerk. She loved traveling, knitting, playing cards, going to Las Vegas and family. There will be no funeral service. Interment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park, 18255 So.
