She passed away Thurs. Sept. 5, 2002 in Pawnee. She was 81 years, 4 months, and 18 days. Ernestine married Russell O. VanDeventer on July 6, 1942 in Ponca City. They moved to Morrison from Skedee in 1992. They attended the United Methodist Church. She was a member of Mothers Against Drunk Driver (M.A.D.D.) She loved family and friends, her dogs, and gardening. She had a great sense of humor, generosity, positive attitude, and a faithful never changing. Ernestine is survived by three children Randy VanDeventer and his wife, Lynn, of Owasso, Doretta Riley and her husband, Larry, of Morrison, and Rick VanDeventer and his wife Kathy, of Skedee; 12 grandchildren: Reid VanDeventer and his wife, Ginger, of Tulsa, Julie Mullinax and her husband, Rod, of Owasso, Cara Lynn and her husband, Bob, of Tulsa, Deanna Funkhouser, of Morrison, Colton Riley, of Morrison, Ericka VanDeventer, of Collinsville, Rustyn VanDeventer, of Collinsville, Haylee VanDeventer, of Skedee, Brittney Garton, of Skedee, Clinton Garton, of Sapulpa, Bobby Funkhouser and his wife, Robyn, of Pawnee, and Danny Funkhouser and his wife, Tina, of Bentonville, Ark.; 8 great-grandchildren: Macy, Mady, Stacy, Trenton, Kendra, Erika, Calley and Chelsea; brothers and sisters: Gladys McCray, of Pawnee, Thelma Lee Baucom and her husband Carl, of Glencoe, Sam Southern and his wife, Doris, of Pawnee, Bill Southern, of Fairfax, and Patsy Hickson and her husband, Bailey, of Cleveland. Plus a number of other relatives, and many friends. Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Russell VanDeventer, her parents, Charles and Bessie Southern, and two daughters, Tara Kay VanDeventer and Carol Sue Funkhouser. Services for Ernestine were held on Mon. Sept. 0 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Pawnee. Interment was held at the Skedee Cemetery officiated by Rev. Susan Ross and Eugene Farrar.
