All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Blankemeyer Ph.D., James Thomas "Jim" James 'Jim' Thomas Blankemeyer, Ph.D, age 59, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 at Logan Hospital & Medical Center, Guthrie, OK. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guthrie, OK, with Rev. Denis G. Hanrahan officiating. Jim was born August 31, 1943 to Paul (Doc) and Rita (Bird) Roebke Blankemeyer. Jim lived in Stillwater from 1977 until 1999, when he moved to Guthrie. He was a Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Oklahoma State University from 1977 until present. He graduated Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, in 1977, with his Ph.D. in Biology and minor in Mathematics. He graduated Cum laude with honors and was honored as University Fellow. He was Vice President and systems analyst for Research and Development at Logic Corporation. He publicized about 42 peer-reviewed papers and monographs. He also developed and patented two products. He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Physiology Society, American Chemical Society, and American Assoc. of University Professors. Jim helped students get into veterinary school and medical school. He also helped teachers with Hands-On-Inquiry Base Science. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Guthrie. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially in Europe. He loved the ocean, sailing, race cars and the Braves Baseball Team. His hobbies included collecting model airplanes, fixing up old cars, and teaching children love for these hobbies. He loved Jazz and The Arts. He married his fiancée of three years, Deborah H. Hamilton, on Feb. 15, 1992, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Blankemeyer, of the home in Guthrie; children, Michael Blankemeyer and wife Carole and first grandchild, Claire of Pennsylvania, Jason Barber, Tulsa, OK and Candace Barber, Guthrie, OK; brothers, Paul Blankemeyer and wife Sharon of Ohio, Gerry Blankemeyer and wife Teri of Ohio; and a number of aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association, God's Food Bank, Guthrie, OK, or Action Inc. Stillwater, OK, for the Christmas Store. A Prayer Vigil will be held Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Chapel.
