"Ann" Annamae (Ann) Kerntke Benedict died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Providence Mount St. Vincent in West Seattle. She was 85. Ann was born November 8, 1921, the eldest child of Henry J. Kerntke and Christina Walker Kerntke of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She joins her husband of 31 years, Genaro E. 'Benny' Benedict, who preceded her in death in 1974. After spending her childhood at the family farm in Stillwater, Ann attended college at Oklahoma A&M (now OSU), Stillwater. It was while working for Western Union during WWII that she met Benny. They were married October 14, 1943, in Portland, Oregon, where they lived until moving to Richland, Washington, in 1951. Ann moved to Shoreline in 1981, where she spent the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helen and Delores; and a brother, Henry L. Kerntke. She is survived by a sister, Grace, of Stillwater; and her four children: Rosann, Philip, Paul, and Christina, all of Seattle. She leaves five grandchildren: Franklin, Rachel, David, Theresa, and Christopher. Ann was much loved and will be missed greatly by her family and the lives of many others that she touched. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at Providence Mt. St. Vincent Wednesday, April 18, at 9:30 a.m. with reception following. Private interment will be in Richland, Washington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, 425 Pontius Ave N, Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98109.
